Ethical Fashion heads to Berlin Fashion Week
Berlin’s Green Showroom and Ethical Fashion Show came to a close last week, reporting a record number of visitors to its new venue in Postbahnhof. The Green Showroom trade show runs alongside the official Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week. This year it received well-deserved praise from editors and design fans who descended upon the German capital in the name of fashion. The Green Showroom and Ethical Fashion Show promotes sustainable fashion, displaying a generous mix of upcoming and established with brands such as People Tree exhibiting alongside new German brand AEP and British wool menswear brand Ramnation.
Sustainability is on the fashion radar
Proving that sustainable development can still produce fashionability in clothing, the brands presented at the Green Showroom featured key, on-trend fashion pieces, drawing in a new crowd and boosting visitor numbers for 2015. Sustainability produces beautifully constructed, contemporary designs deserving a place on the fashion radar and it is so refreshing to see such a positive reaction to an ethical event.
Talia Hussain, Founder of sustainable British menswear label, Ramnation, presented her collection at the show and felt it was a great success and commented,
“The show in Berlin was inspiring, with lots of great new and established brands. I was interested to hear the stories of designers who had seen the ugliness of conventional fashion production and left to explore a more sustainable way of doing things. It is a concept whose time has come.”
Similar to Ally Bee Knitwear, sustainability in production using British natural fibre is central to the ethos of Ramnation. Talia’s menswear collections are constructed from wool spun from the fleece of British rare breed sheep.
With Autumn/Winter 15 shows now in full swing, Ally Bee is pleased to be joining an delegation of eco-fashion British Designers at The Green Closet show at SUPER Pitti Imaginne in Milan on 28th February to 2nd March 2015.
